Flat Rate Shipping
Two flat rates apply, determined by the contents of the order. If any finished cartridge is included in an order, the cartridge rate applies to the entire shipment.
| Category | Rate | Carrier & Method |
|---|---|---|
| Components & Implements | $9.00 | USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail. Applies to orders containing only inert components: cast bullets, nitrated paper, paper patches, paper cones, formed envelopes, assembly fixtures, and tool sets. |
| Finished Cartridges | $35.00 | UPS Ground, Limited Quantity label per 49 CFR. Applies to any order containing finished cartridges — Chassepot needle-fire, Martini-Henry foil, skin cartridges, or envelope cartridges. All other items in the same order ship at this rate. |
Flat rates apply regardless of quantity or destination within the continental United States. Ordering multiple items or quantities does not increase the shipping charge. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
Handling & Dispatch
Orders are typically packed and dispatched within three to five business days of confirmed payment. Production is small-batch; if a specific item is temporarily out of stock, you will be contacted before dispatch with an estimated availability date and the option to cancel for a full refund.
Finished cartridges containing black powder charges or live percussion primers are classified as Limited Quantity explosives under 49 CFR and must be shipped UPS Ground from a licensed UPS location. These items cannot be shipped USPS under any circumstance. All other items ship USPS.
A tracking number is provided by email for all shipments. Insurance is included at declared value on cartridge shipments; components ship uninsured unless requested.
State Restrictions — Finished Cartridges
Finished cartridges — including Chassepot needle-fire cartridges, Martini-Henry foil cartridges, and combustible skin and envelope revolver cartridges — cannot be shipped to the following states. State law in these jurisdictions either classifies black powder arms as regulated firearms, imposes licensing requirements on ammunition components, or has removed exemptions that previously permitted such sales.
| State | Status | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| California | No Shipment | All ammunition sales to unlicensed individuals prohibited; black powder arms treated as regulated firearms under state law. |
| District of Columbia | No Shipment | DC requires registration of all firearms including antiques and makes possession of any single ammunition component — a bullet, powder charge, or percussion cap — a prosecutable offense for persons without a valid DC gun registration. No shipment of any product category. |
| Hawaii | No Shipment | All firearms including antiques require registration and permit under state law; ammunition components subject to permit requirements. We do not ship to HI. |
| Illinois | No Shipment | FOID card required for all firearms and ammunition transactions including antiques and black powder components. |
| Maryland | No Shipment | Handgun permit requirements apply to percussion revolvers under state law. We do not ship finished cartridges to MD. |
| Massachusetts | No Shipment | Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024 (effective October 2, 2024) repealed the previous exemption for black powder ammunition components. Possession of percussion caps, bullets, and powder for antique firearms now requires an FID or LTC. No shipment of any cartridge or primed component. |
| New Jersey | No Shipment | Permit required for purchase of antique firearms; ammunition components subject to broad state firearms regulations. |
| New York | No Shipment | State law restricts antique handgun transactions and imposes licensing requirements on ammunition components. |
| Rhode Island | No Shipment | State requires a valid handgun safety certificate to purchase ammunition; applies to handgun-use components. We do not ship to RI. |
| Washington | No Shipment | State law classifies black powder replica revolvers as regulated firearms. We do not ship finished cartridges to WA. |
| Alaska | No Shipment | Shipping cost and routing uncertainty make Alaska shipments impractical. We do not ship to AK. |
State Restrictions — Components & Inert Items
Cast lead bullets, nitrated paper, paper patches, paper cones, and formed envelopes are inert components designed exclusively for use in antique firearms as defined under 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(16). These items are not regulated as ammunition under federal law. Most states impose no additional restrictions on their purchase or receipt.
However, several states apply broad firearms regulations that extend to components and accessories. We do not ship to those states. The following restrictions apply to all component orders:
| State | Status | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| California | No Shipment | California's broad ammunition regulations make shipment of all product categories inadvisable. |
| District of Columbia | No Shipment | Possession of any single ammunition component is a prosecutable offense for persons without a valid DC gun registration. No shipment of any product category to DC. |
| Hawaii | No Shipment | State law imposes permit requirements on firearms and related components. We do not ship to HI. |
| Illinois | No Shipment | FOID card required for ammunition components under state law. We do not ship components to IL. |
| Maryland | No Shipment | State handgun regulations extend to components intended for handgun use. Consistent with our finished cartridge restriction, we do not ship to MD. |
| Massachusetts | No Shipment | Chapter 135 (2024) removed the black powder components exemption; bullets and other components now fall under state ammunition licensing requirements. |
| New Jersey | No Shipment | Broad state firearms regulations apply to ammunition components. We do not ship components to NJ. |
| New York | No Shipment | State ammunition regulations restrict sale of handgun ammunition components to unlicensed individuals. Consistent with our finished cartridge restriction, we do not ship to NY. |
| Rhode Island | No Shipment | State requires a valid handgun safety certificate to purchase ammunition; applies to handgun-use components. We do not ship to RI. |
| Washington | No Shipment | State treatment of black powder replica revolvers as regulated firearms extends to components intended for their use. Consistent with our finished cartridge restriction, we do not ship to WA. |
| Alaska | No Shipment | Shipping cost and routing uncertainty make Alaska shipments impractical for all product categories. |
| All other states | Ships | No known restriction on inert antique firearm components. Buyer remains responsible for confirming local legality. |
International Orders
We do not currently accept international orders. Export of antique firearms components, even those exempt from domestic federal regulation, may require export licensing under the Export Administration Regulations or ITAR depending on the destination country and product classification. We are not currently equipped to navigate these requirements and do not ship outside the United States.
Returns & Damaged Shipments
All sales are final on opened or used items. Damaged or incorrectly shipped items will be replaced or refunded at our discretion — contact us within seven days of receipt with a description and photograph of the damage. Items returned in original condition within fourteen days of receipt for reasons other than damage will be refunded less actual shipping costs.
Questions about orders may be directed to the contact page.
